Something that has stood out to me in the administration so far is that many of the people that have been placed in (or just grabbed) power have goals that are deeper or more expansive than just holding power or hurting people. Of course, holding power and hurting people are fantastic bonuses for these weirdos, but their driving animus is different, and often worse.
The thing that I find so interesting is that in many cases these goals have been stated outright on some podcast or some interview or even on Twitter, and yet they still seem like shadowy ulterior motives. Most people probably have no idea about these things, and their day to day actions don’t necessarily point to this background goals.
Musk is a really good example, because he’s obsessed with birth rates. It’s probably hard to tell that based solely on his online and political presence, or his business focuses. Musk has gone hard into tech, spent a lot of time talking about space and efficiency and whatever. But his goal is to get people to make babies. A lot of them. He’s a poster child for this himself, and even that is sort of hard to know unless you look for it or pay close attention. Since his most recent girlfriend announced she had a kid, his tally of offspring is thirteen. Thirteen children with at least four different women. And beyond his own, um, personal score, he wants everyone to be doing what he’s doing. The way he’s doing that has been stated, by him, on at least two occasions: he wants people poor, uneducated, and religious. He’s said that these three factors lead to the highest birthrates in a population, historically. So everything he does that isn’t just to personally enrich himself is to make people poor, uneducated, and religious so that they will have more children. Because he’s a freak.
Another good example is Mike Huckabee, the former governor of Arkansas and current nominee for ambassador to Israel. Now, many people may be asking “why the fuck is a former governor of Arkansas being asked to be a foreign ambassador in the middle east?” And that’s a terrific question! And the answer is both in plain sight and also kinda hard to find: it’s because he’s trying to fulfill a doomsday prophecy! Yes, Mike Huckabee is a believer in the prophecy that the rapture and Christian Apocalypse™ can’t start until all of the Jews are back in Israel. And so, as a means to literally bring about the end of the world and transcendence of all true Christians, he has gotten himself nominated as ambassador to Israel to further those goals. There’s also a strong case to be made that Trump himself is working toward this particular flavor of nonsense by trying to turn Gaza into a strip mall or whatever — to get more Jews to go there.
You see these “stated but obfuscated” goals all over the place. GOP controls congress but Trump is only using executive actions to do anything. Why? So that at the end of his term he can say “if you don’t elect me the next guy will just get rid of everything I did, so you have to give me a third term”. Or to force a confrontation with the Supreme Court. Or both.
And sure, most of the time they’re just sort of boring self-enrichment kind of hidden goals. Usually stuff like Joe Manchin calling himself a democrat but stalling every single green initiative because his family is heavily invested in West Virginian coal. But As you can see above, it’s not always just get rich stuff. Sometimes it’s much weirder than that.
As with most of my ramblings, I don’t really know what to do with this. I guess I wrote this because 1) I wanted to put into words how prevalent and upsetting it is, and 2) point some of these out to encourage my readers to look for them yourselves. It’s so important to know why these ghouls do what they do, because if we only look at the what and never the why they’re probably gonna keep getting away with it.
